Is Coffee Grown in Australia?
Yes - but it’s rare.
A small number of dedicated farms in Far North Queensland and Northern New South Wales grow coffee right here in Australia. These producers work with unique growing conditions to create beans that are distinctly regional. While supply is limited, and Australian-grown coffee remains a niche part of the global market, it’s a genuine expression of local craft and care.
At Hello Coffee, we don’t currently stock Australian-grown beans. Instead, we focus on ethically sourced coffees from growing regions with deep farming heritage - places like Ethiopia, Colombia, and Indonesia. We roast them fresh here in Victoria, keeping everything else local: sourcing relationships, small-batch roasting, packing, and shipping.
So What Is Australian Coffee, Really?
To us, it’s less about where the bean grew, and more about how it’s treated once it gets here.
Australian coffee is:
- Roasted fresh by local businesses who care about flavour and transparency.
- Brewed with intention - whether it’s a flat white in a bustling café or a V60 on your kitchen bench.
- Made to taste good without shortcuts, gimmicks, or stale stock sitting in a warehouse.
That’s what we do at Hello Coffee - and we’re proud to be part of a country that values quality over quantity when it comes to coffee.
